I have a quandry.
My PC studio computer has needed a better interface for a while now (m-audio 410 isn't cutting the mustard) and also im taking my laptop (MB-Pro) out to the clubs so want a good interface for that.Fireface usb settings windows
Its looks like the options are:
- RME Fireface 400 and use for both (£650 ish)Rme Fireface 800 For Mac
- Apogee Duet and then upgrade studio interface later on. (£350 ish)
i like the idea of having a really portable soundcard for the laptop too so i can do music anywhere but i hear both can be powered by the laptop (duet has no power supply).
800so, my question is if I use an RME for both am I going to have to update the fireware each time i switch from PC to Mac ?? This would be seriously annoying...

Also, has anyone done an A/B on these two cards - i hear both are really good. I presume they both work well with Ableton too?

Thanks in advance.
